For Crooked Teeth, the Choice is Clear: Adults Love SureSmile Aligners!
Many people naturally crave a beautiful, straight smile. Although some people are born with a natural, straight smile, others need the help of orthodontic treatment. In the past, metal braces were the only option for straightening teeth, but today patients have more options. Having straight teeth is much more than just straight teeth though. Proper alignment can help prevent any unwanted wear and chipping of teeth. Straight teeth also allow for easier brushing and flossing at home. It can also help alleviate issues with your TMJ. At Greenbelt Dental Health, Dr. Christopher Naranjo and the team use the SureSmile system to align your smile with minimally invisible aligners.
What is the SureSmile system?
While traditional braces use wire-connected brackets to straighten teeth, SureSmile uses removable, clear braces to move your teeth gently. Invisalign is the original form of clear braces, but over the years, competitors have emerged to correct your crooked teeth with the same speed and comfort as Invisalign. SureSmile, for example, is one such treatment close to Invisalign. At Greenbelt Dental Health, we are proud to provide both systems to our Austin, Texas, patients.

How Do Clear Braces Work?
The process starts with a consultation with Dr. Naranjo. If your teeth and gums are in great shape (free of cavities and gum disease), we digitally scan your mouth, simulate your treatment plan, and use computer-generated images to create your aligners.
You will receive a series of custom-made trays which comfortably sink over your teeth. You wear a new set every two weeks until your teeth are perfectly aligned. While clear braces are removable, you should wear them for about 20-22 hours daily to move your teeth within the expected timeline.
Benefits of Clear Braces
If you aren’t sold on the idea of SureSmile, here are the benefits you need to consider:
- Discreet — clear braces are minimally invasive. Someone has to get uncomfortably close to spot them.
- Easy to clean — maintaining your aligners is so easy, unlike metal braces which are permanently fixed in the teeth.
- Comfortable — clear braces don’t have metals to rub the inside of your cheeks. Dental aligners have smooth trays that are gentle on your gums and cheeks.
- Faster results — clear braces straighten teeth within 6-18 months, unlike metal braces that take a minimum of 2 years.
